Sigismondo d'India Terzo Libro di Madrigali
Glossa GCD 920903
sommet... Diapason, September 1998: Diapason D'Or
In questo cd il gruppo La Venexiana intenta una particolare via interpretativa...; il risultato, di fortissimo impatto musicale e poetico, accentua i gemiti, le dissonanze amare, l'espressione e la forza teatrale di una musica semplicemente superba. Amadeus, August 1998 (award "A")
The emergence of another highly professional group in the new age of Italian ensembles with an interest in the late madrigal is greatly to be welcome, and on the evidence of this record La Venexiana is an international force to be reckoned with. Iain Fenlon, Gramophone-January 1999.
Listening to the six singers, two theorbists and sigle harpsicord of La Venexiana, one believes they must breathe this repertoire in the daily lives ... It has long been an expression eloquently stated by pots, eloquently captured in music, and eloquently recreated in La Venexiana's performance. Very highly recommended. Continuo magazine, USA, December 1999
It's heightened further by La Venexiana's "mobile" beat, flexing pace to capture a single thought. In doing so, it varies sonority, too: at cadences, tuning is as richly focused as a barbershop ensemble. La Venexiana's finely recorded six voices, two theorbos and harpsicord are peerless advocates of this pinnacle of amourous fervour. BBC Music, October 1998: five stars
Let's hope that La Venexiana's disc gets enough exposure. It is a delight, and does D'India far better justice than Les Arts Florissants. There is a nakedness and spare intensity to the singing that is exciting and unconfortable in the right way. Blend, tuning and ensemble are superb...I look forward to La Venexiana's next release.
